Regenerative
Endodontic
Therapy
A biologically driven treatment for young patients with open root apexes encouraging the tooth to continue developing naturally rather than requiring extraction.

Overview
Healing That Begins
At The Root
At Ivy Endodontics at Princeton, we are proud to offer regenerative endodontic procedures a biologically driven therapy that works with your body's natural healing capacity, not against it.
Unlike traditional root canal treatment, which removes infected tissue and permanently seals the canal with inert material, regenerative therapy aims to restore functional, living tissue inside the tooth. The goal is not simply to save the tooth, it is to revitalize it.

WHY IT MATTERS
A Living Tooth Is a
Stronger Tooth
Teeth with living pulp tissue are better able to sense temperature, pressure, and pain warning signs your body depends on. They are also better equipped to defend against future infection and continue normal development, especially in younger patients.
Regenerative endodontics represents one of the most significant advances in modern dentistry: moving from a purely mechanical model of care toward one that harnesses your own biology as the primary therapeutic tool.
THE PROCESS
What To Expect
01
Diagnosis & Evaluation
We begin with a thorough clinical and radiographic assessment to determine whether regenerative therapy is appropriate for your tooth. Medical history, tooth development stage, and infection severity are all carefully considered.
02
First Visit - Disinfection
The canal is gently disinfected using minimally invasive irrigation and, when appropriate, an antibiotic or calcium hydroxide medicament placed inside the canal to eliminate bacteria while preserving the vital stem cell-rich tissue at the root tip.
03
Second Visit - Regenerative Scaffold
Once disinfection is confirmed, we stimulate controlled bleeding at the root apex, creating a natural blood clot that acts as a scaffold for tissue growth. A bioceramic material seals the canal above, protecting the regenerating environment within.
04
Monitoring & Follow Up
We track your recovery with periodic imaging over the following months and years. Successful cases show continued root development, thickening of canal walls, and the return of normal tooth vitality.
